The Galanthus - Our March 2022 Bold Style
What I wanted to capture in this month’s bold design was the kaleidoscope of greenery that emerges to greet us at the start of every year. It’s a marvel and a reminder that even after the coldest of winters or bleakest of days, new life emerges.
It was just by happenstance while designing these socks that I should also be taking a course on botany at the time. I didn’t realize it then but I was pulling inspiration from the lessons of cell respiration, photosynthesis, and plant structure to inform this sock pattern.
Like the plant cells I was studying, I decided to approach the sock design by building it entirely out of small squares, like basic units coming together to form a unique, dare I say, specimen? However, it was by no accident that I added subtle flower shapes. (This is a spring design, after-all.) From the vegetables we eat to the cotton in these very socks and the inspiration behind this month’s bold design, we owe our plants and the natural world around us a whole heap of gratitude and respect. So, by all means, go outside and hug a tree!!

The Story About Our March 2022 Socks:
Take a deep breath in and lift your head to the sky...breath out...do you feel that? A wave of calm brushes over, making it feel like everything is going to be okay. With a breath of fresh air, open skies, and maybe even a bird chirping, the first signs of spring are finally here (no more seasonal depression, yay)! After what seemed like a never-ending winter, the temperature is rising and buds are beginning to blossom.
Our March socks are inspired by these pops of green, as they remind us that fresh beginnings are always possible- even after months of gloom.
